The vocal exercises in this online course are intended to be a guide for those who are already taking vocal lessons with a qualified coach, or those who are new to vocal training and wish to get some foundational understanding about vocal technique before taking lessons with a qualified coach. We do not recommend that you base your entire vocal training solely on the exercises found in this course. You should not attempt any of these vocal exercises if you’ve recently or currently have vocal damage of any kind, unless you previous have sought medical attention and have been told by your medical practitioner that it is safe to do so. Also, vocal exercises should not be attempted if you are currently suffering from any illness that is affecting your voice, like a cough, cold, laryngitis, etc.

Always remember that when vocalising on your own, you are your own best judge. Be mindful of your body and if you feel any discomfort or pain, especially in the throat area, or if you are struggling to hit any of the notes, don’t push yourself. Take a 10-minute break and try again later using some of the suggestions found in the Helpful Hints sections.
